Die Werke wurden aus (vor)gefundenen Materialien geschaffen, „einfach um das Neue zu schaffen“. ______________________________________________________ For more information visit: Mehr unter: http://www.loosebooty.org ______________________________________________________ Swiss artist Sylvie Rodriguez will show a new makeshift structure where shelter is provided by a collection of scavenged books. She has recently participated in the Eternal Tour Festival, Rome and Risrazoni Festival Nettuno, Italy. Fellow Geneva-based artist Alexandre Bianchini has created a new installation that combines images transferred to glass along with found objects cast in wax. Bianchini has recently held a solo exhibition at Skopia Gallery, Geneva and showed in Art En Plein Air, Motier. Pascal Rousson presents new retouched paintings, ceramics and various objects found in flea markets along with canvases based on 1960’s DIY manuals which merge the handyman to modernism. He recently showed in Urban Tendencies at P3, London and had a solo exhibition House of Pain, at Vegas Gallery in London. Loose Booty allows a rare gallery viewing of one of Guy Sherwin’s classic silent black & white 16mm films from his ‘Short Film Series’. Sherwin’s films and performances are widely shown, with recent solo screenings at ACMI Melbourne, GOMA Brisbane, Les Voutes Paris, and Ocularis New York. Jeff McMillan’s reductive approach to painting includes working solely with found works, in this case using found paint-by-number paintings to create a new landscape. Earlier this year McMillan held exhibitions at La Culpable, Lima and at Christine Koenig, Vienna. Eileen Simpson & Ben White source out-of-copyright 78rpm recordings, digitize them, and distribute them via their website (www.openmusicarchive.org). They build on this material to produce new collaborative projects that are copyleft licensed. For Loose Booty they present a selection of covers, versions and remixes of the archive material, which can be taken away on CD. Simpson & White’s recent projects include Declose for Disclosures II: The Middle Ages at Nottingham Contemporary and Free-to-air for Nought to Sixty at the Institute of Contemporary Art London. For the private view the two will perform an out-of-copyright/copyleft laptop and DJ set. A publication with a text by Joel Vacheron accompanies the exhibition and will be available for 5 Frs. Loose Booty was exhibited at Vegas Gallery, London 24 January – 16 February 2008 and at Freestudios, Geneva 13 – 24 March 2008.
