Exposing the Curator Saturday, 1st November 2003 7-9pm, K3-bar-open end with/ mit Barnaby Drabble , Esther Eppstein, Pascale Grau, Katrin Grögel, Ruth Buck, Christina Schmid, Raphael Gygax, Centrik Isler, Oliver Kielmayer, Matthias Kuhn, Felicity Lunn, Phillipp Meier, Susanne Neubauer, Nadia Schneider The spread of professionalisation throughout curatorial practise has changed the nature of the art exhibition and the art scene during recent years, while strongly influencing art production. K3 Project Space focuses on this contemporary phenomenon, taking it as an opportunity to create an exhibition of the other kind: K3 will show a diverse selection of curators, both Swiss and British, in a relaxed lounge style evening. Together these curators will be placed away from their associated exhibition activities. For one evening only, the curator is exposed, personality placed into the foreground. This brief conversion of the exhibition makers into exhibition objects allows an opportunity for the art audience to engage with and discuss a profession, that has made way for some remarkable careers. Die flächendeckende Professionalisierung des KuratorInnenberufs hat in den vergangenen Jahren das Ausstellungswesen und die Kunstszene bis hin zur Kunstproduktion stark gewandelt. K3 Project Space nimmt dieses Phänomen zum Anlass für einen Ausstellungsevent der anderen Art: Wir stellen ausgewählte Kuratorinnen und Kuratoren aus der Schweiz und aus Grossbritannien während eines K3-abends in entspannter Lounge-Atmosphäre vor, um sie, abseits Ihrer Ausstellungstätigkeit, wo sie letztendlich doch hinter die gezeigte Kunst zurücktreten, als Persönlichkeiten in den Vordergrund zu stellen. Die kurzzeitige Verwandlung der AusstellungsmacherInnen in Ausstellungsobjekte, kann wenn das Experiment gelingt, die Diskussion über einen Beruf, der eine beachtliche Karriere gemacht hat, entfachen.
